pre-op diet question - not losing any weight?

I had to lose 18 pounds to qualify to have the surgery. And if I gained any of it back, they were going to cancel the surgery. So as you can imagine, this was SO stressful for me.

I bought protein drinks from GNC (Lean shake or something like that) Vanilla and Strawberry. They were premade. I drank two of these a day and then a regular meal (usually at lunchtime, since I was working) and tons of water.

I lost 25 pounds.

They told me the weight loss was to shrink the liver, so they could move around in there to do the surgery. I am glad that I did, because they ended up taking my gallbladder too. The gallbladder sits up against the liver.

You can do i****ER made the difference for me and the extra protein.

Good Luck,
Bren

Wow, I'm not allowed any regular meals at all for this whole 2 weeks.  I get 4 8oz shakes a day and then 6 "snacks" like sugar free jello, 1/2 cup oatmeal (with nothing in it), 1 cup non-starchy raw veggies.

I'm really craving the goldfish crackers I walk by in the kitchen all the time (I have kids), but I've not even touched them.

Thankfully I had my gallbladder out about 19 years ago, so don't have to worry about that!

I'm still following the diet exactly, but still not losing anything.  I suppose it's better than gaining though!  I do weigh 20 pounds less than when the surgeon saw me last though (stopped a psych med that causes weight gain and was causing swelling in my feet and ankles).  Wish that was all it took, but I hit the 20 pounds lost (which actually is about how much I gained when I started taking that medication) and just stuck there.

I wonder if the protein shake I have has too many calories or something.  It was on their list of suggestions for protein shakes, so just assumed it was fine.  It has 30g of protein per scoop and I mix it with 8 oz of skim milk.

Anyway, thanks all.
