Gallbladder issues

Ok so Im waiting for gallbladder surgery. I am scheduled for surgery on October 15th. I always have pain on my right under my rib cage but just recently have been experiencing pain on my left in the front (same place we get pain when we've eaten too much). I seem to have it almost constantly so Im wondering if this left side pain is somehow related to my gallbladder pain or if this is something new and unrelated to my gallbladder pain. I seem to have it almost constantly.

I had gallbladder issues for a year and a half......cause my primary care doc said....they will take it out with the RNY, so she didn't do anything for me. Well, one and a half years later RNY and they took my gallbladder and my surgeon said that it was inflammed and sticky (stuck to my liver) and with stones and it should have been taken out a long time ago.....Oh well....it's gone now. Good luck on the gallbladder surgery. Left side pain can be cause by you overdoing and you now feeling the sutures and if you do too much you'll irritate the nerves that run along them....I did that and it was PAINFUL!!! Wishin you the best.

Solise, by the time I had my gallbladder out, I had generalized pain throughout my abdomen. If I remember correctly, you were diagnosed with biliary dyskinesia, right?  From what I have read about it, it can be quite painful and is directly related to a dysfunction of the sphincter of Oddi (sp).
I think this new pain is tied in with everything else you've had.

Since I've had my gallbladder out, I've only had two instances of that type of abdominal pain, both after I had gone far too long without eating.

I fight badgers with spoons.

RNY on 05/09/12

I had gallbladder pain for many years. Doctors kept telling me that it was not that bad and they would take it out when it got bad. I just let it slide because I was busy and who wants surgery? Anyway before I had RNY I was again having a lot of pain. Now my pain was more under my right shoulder blade. A little in front but mostly in my back. I insisted that more test be done before RNY and my PCP finally determined that yes it was bad. They took it out during RNY and the surgeon said it was very bad and was also stuck to my liver. His understatement to me was gee that must have hurt. Nice to have it gone. So if anyone even thinks they are having gallbladder problems before RNY stick to your guns and make them check it very well and have it out during your surgery. It is the only way to go.

Thanks larry. Im a 3.5 year post op and have suffered with this for about 2 years. All tests came back normal, it was only found during the HIDA scan when I had so much pain I almost jumped 50 feet off the table. Ive been diagnosed with Biliary Dyskenesia and surgery is scheuled for October 15th.

Because the left side just started hurting, I was wondering if its going from bad to worse....

I just had mine out two weeks ago. My pain was on both sides and lower abdomen. I hope your surgery goes well and you feel better soon!!!
