Flannel Pajamas
RNY on 02/17/12
We are having our first cool weather turn here in Minnesota. Until the last few days, I really thought I wasn't going to feel too horribly cold this winter, but now I'm soooooo cold. I'm wearing thermal socks, jeans and a long-sleeve shirt, and I'm still cold.
I still have about 20-30 pounds to go, but man... I could really use some flannel jammies and sweaters.
I'm sitting (fully dressed) under a heated throw, and I turned the space heater in my bedroom on.
Anyone have any tips to stay warm?

I'm definitely colder this year than I've ever been! Fortunately for me, I fit in some of my daughters' size M pajama pants!
Hot tea is my friend.

Angora/cotton blend socks, down bootie slippers, long (mid calf) down coat, down-filled throw for covering up when watching tv, reading, etc., cotton or wool sweaters (MUCH warmer than acrylic yarns), heavy (6 oz, from Lands End) flannel sheets and "warmest" rating down comforter for the bed, electric blanket for if I get chilled and need help warming up.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
When it gets colder, I pull out my electric heating pad. It is a large pad that goes from the top to the bottom of my back. I also use a laptop when I am on the computer and that gets pretty warm!!

I live in the Pacfic NW now and while we don't get as cold as you do we get very damp and wet. I normally wear a thin long underwear under most of my clothes during the winter. I wear a silk based one or a lightweight wool one. Cuddle duds are good and for a better quality I like smartwool ( wool based) it is more $$ so make sure you are at the size you want. Most of my socks have wool in them. Cotton keeps you cold stay away from that. Also check into sock liners. I wore sock lines when I lived in CO.
For sweaters- do not buy cotton. Look for something with wool or polyester to keep warm.
I never was a slipper person but now I do wear slippers in the house. ( we keep the heat a low as we can) I have a pair of down slippers and they look like moon shoes but they keep my feet so warm. I have also worn them to bed also. We also have flannel sheets on the bed.
At the office at times it is cold and I will wear half gloves so I can type. You will probably need to invest in a good coat this year. Consider down, synthetic or a wool blend. Stay away from polyester.
TNF, Marmot and Mtn. Hdwr make great coats.
