Extremely Dizzy-Any Advice?

I have been really dizzy lately. Like, all day. Its not positional dizziness, because it happens when I'm already up or moving around. I am getting more than enough liquids (between 80-100 oz. a day) and I am taking all my vitamins (Multi X2, Calcium citrate X3, B12, Vit.D, B1, Iron, Vit. C). Last time I was at the hospital my BP was really low and they had to raise it before they let me go home. I called my surgeon and they're supposed to get back to me soon, but I'd like to get your guys opinion. Any help would be great. Thanks!

Do you have a way to take your blood pressure? Maybe you need to add some salt to your diet? Or you could have vertigo....

My first thought is that you need more salt. Google low blood pressure and you'll see what I mean. Since I tend to eat very low salt, mine sometimes gets quite low, even when I am extra hydrated. So I add a little salt and it helps.

Sonogirl raises a good point about vertigo too.

Hmm... maybe. I do prefer bland foods, but I eat nut's and that is salty, so I dont think thats it.... I'm not even sure what vertigo is. I'll have to look it up. I will be checking my BP tonight after work. I made an appt with my doc. The soonest they had was tomorrow morning.

I had dizzy episodes starting around 7-8 months post op.  I saw my PCP and we began several tests.  I finally got a referral to a cardio doc.  I needed a pacemaker, implanted about 15 months post op.  I had pulse rates of 38 and 45 when fitted for Holter and Event Monitor test devices.  My lower bp is now regulated at 60 bpm.  I had it implanted about 5 years ago. My last check up was about 3 months ago, and I was told I'd likely need a new battery implanted within 6 months or so. DAVE

happens to me.  i need to drink 32 ounces of powerade zero a day in order to control it.  more is better but i prefer water.  it's the only thing that's worked for me.

What works for me is sitting down and pumping my legs a few times. Seems to get the blood moving again. It works hard when we are heavy and has to adjust to a smaller body.

Man, I hope it's not my heart. Thats scary. I will have to try the power aid and see if that helps. In the meantime, I gotta see my doctor first and see what he finds.

I had that problem about 3-4 months.  The dr sent me for all the tests and they came back ok.  She said I was probably a little dehydrated, but mostly it was anxiety.  I didn't like the answer but it helped knowing nothing else was wrong.  It has been much better since.

I have not had surgery yet, so can't comment on that side of things, but was curious about the liquids you take in.  Is that all water or is there more to it?  I know your electrolites can really get out of wack if you drink TOO much water (yup, there is such a thing...)

I only know because of my son's medical condition.

Hope the doctor can get something figured out for you!  I use to get really low BP and severe dizziness when I was taking this one prescription medication.  It was AWFUL!

Good luck!
