Help! Looking for an ulflavored whey protein powder

I'm having my surgery on Monday and have done fine with my pre-op diet.  I love the chocolate protein isolate powder I'm taking and the vanilla is ok.  But I have not tried any unflavored for mixing into anything.

The "be prepared" shopping list for right after surgery includes unflavored whey protein powder for mixing in soups/drinks/etc so you can get all your protein in during the day.  I'm suppose to take in at least 80g of protein each day.

I ordered one can of the Unjury unflavored and then might order one of the unflavored Nectar, but not sure what else is out there.  I looked up beneprotein, but the website says it only has 6g of protein per scoop (maybe the scoops are small???).

Anyone with any recommendations?  I know I can't mix any of this stuff into anything "hot" (over 130 degreees), but I'd like to have SOME variety in what I can drink while on the full liquid diet, but need to get that protein in!

Thanks!

I have the unflavored syntrax nectar and its ok, I haven't mixed it in with any drinks yet, mostly pudding. It mixes very well and I can't taste a thing. I also use it to supplement my protein in my shakes. I just bought a big tub of isopure unflavored protein because I asked the same question you just did a few weeks back and a majority of people seemed to like isopure the best. You can also buy samples of the powders as well to see which one works for you, Cheers!

Don't get too much.  Unflavored - does not mean that there is no flavor. It means that there is no additional flavor added. it still may taste like whey proteins.  Some people still have a hard time tolerating that post op.

The Unjury is a 24gram scoop and has 21g of protein. The Benefiber is a 7gram scoop with 6g of protein. That makes them about equal per volume of protein. I couldn't find the scoop size on the Syntrax Nectar unflavored.

I personally have only used the Benefiber in the unflavored proteins and find that it mixes in well and has no discernible flavor to me. I like the smaller scoop because I usually use it to increase the protein in things, like a cup of yogurt.

Wishing you the best!!

Great, thanks!

Ok, I cannot for the life of me do the math to figure out how many scoops would be in an 8oz can.  How many do you normally get?

I saw on Amazon it's $15 for 8oz.  Trying to figure out how many scoops that would be.

Thanks!

The product description for the 8oz can says "approximately 32 servings per canister". I never counted myself....

Isopure makes an unflavored. I was able to "taste" it in my shakes. I didnt like it and returned it.

Thanks so much everyone!!!!  Might have to try the Beneprotein if it's got a smaller scoop.  Just couldn't imagine the size scoop I'm using now only having 6g of protein in it!  (it has 30g).

I use Bi-Pro.  I've tried others and think this is the best.  I drink 60 grams a day with herbal iced tea and can't even taste the protein.  The other unflavored whey powders were too milky and granular like sugar, whereas Bi-Pro is light and powdery.  My protein levels have been great since I've used it.  It is expensive, $49, but they send you coupons, etc which lowers the price.  My brother and I may buy 12 together which will lower the price to $35 with no shipping cost.  I use one every 3 weeks, so it would be a good buy.

Good luck.  Getting the protein in at the beginning can be difficult.  Just do your best.

If you're willing to go with egg white protein instead, I like the Jay Robb unflavored egg white protein powder.  To me, it has a slightly salty flavor.  I mixed it with my mashed potatoes and cream of rice soup when I was on the soft foods post-op.  I found it at Drug Emporium, don't know if you have one of those where you're at.  Jay Robb also makes chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla egg white protein.  I prefer the egg white protein over whey because it's not as sweet and doesn't have as funny an aftertaste, but that's just my taste.  Good luck with your surgery!
