Hair Gain
I think it is the protein. My diet was crappy too. I heard a doctor say that the reason teenaged girls have healthy hair and fingernails is because of the protein in their diets. Now that was many years ago when I heard that. I don't know what the doctors would say now with all this childhood obesity...
I'm curious...did you have PCOS before surgery? I have/had PCOS and most of the issues I had that were associated with it were greatly reduced or gone by month three. PCOS can cause thinning hair in women; if you had it pre-WLS, you might be seeing a difference as the PCOS symptoms disappear.
Just a thought.

No I didn't have PCOS before surgery. I think the fact that I do wear wigs helps me from using thermal styling (flat irons, curling irons, blow dryers and heated rollers) on a daily basis. The use of these things can and will dry and break your hair off. Being that I'm a black woman, I really have to handle my hair gingerly because of the texture of my hair. That's why I wear my hair natural and chemical free.
I was always told that protein is good for the hair and fingernails. My fingernails haven't changed. Some people think they're artificial, but my hair has change. If I ever begin to lose my hair, I'm good. No one would ever know. I will just slam on another wig and keep it pushing...LoL !!!
