New here- RNY November 14
Hey everyone! My name is Melanie and I am having RNY Gastric bypass November 14. I start my pre-op liquid diet in a week. Does anyone have any advice for me? Seems like that is a really hard time for people. The closer my surgery gets the more I am freaking out and having second thoughts... is this normal?
My advice is read, read, read!
Many (like me) had a very easy time, but others have rough patches along they way. Being patient is the hardest part "I want the weight GONE and I want it YESTERDAY!".
If not losing every day or even every week is going to freak you out, then stay off of the scales. You will not lose every day, and you WILL at some point have weeks that the scales won't show any change, but if you follow your plan then it WILL work.
I always called OH my daily support group. I came on the board and read every post even if it didn't seem to apply to me. The folks here were so supportive, I learned what to do and even what not to do
.
Everyone has the pre-surgery nerves, that is natural! Good luck and keep us posted!!!

I am nervous too! My surgery is in 6 days and I have been freaking out for a while. However, I know this is the right decision for me.
The pre-op diet is hard, a lot harder than I thought it would be. My doctor told me to try to follow it the best I could which is exactly what I am doing. Overall I am just making healthier choices. For example, when I get hungry and the protein shakes are doing the trick I am snacking on fruit. My one meal a day comes from lunch but if I do eat at dinner time I will choose a salad option instead of fried foods.
My suggestion would be to take it one day at a time and follow your doctor's instructions. but don't beat yourself up if you slip.
