When did you start eating Salad?
Wow your surgeon is very conservation. Plans vary so much. I was allowed all green leafy veggies at 8 days post-op and never had a problem with them. I never, ever use fat free anything. Low fat occassionally but usually full-fat. I used about 1 tbsp at most of salad dressing, just for a taste.

Oh how I crave salad sometimes, I watched as my husband ate an Olive Garden salad and was annoyed with each bite he took (not really since the surgery was my choice, but you know what I mean.) My dietician said that they do not normally allow patients who have had RNY to eat any vegetables until 3 months out. Now that being said I have had a lot of issues with meat and when I asked about the veggie rule she made an exception about really soft vegetables, like carrots and peas steamed until they are able to be mashed with a fork very easily and such but anything raw HAS to be avoided including salad until the 3 month mark. I was told to stay away from even well cooked veggies such as broccoli, collards, cauliflower, etc.
Yeah, they are all different.... I am 2 months out today and I am still on soft foods, which my NUT said is basically anything EXCEPT NO raw fruits or veggies..... so I have to wait until Dec 2nd for my 3 month check up and I get moved to full menu..... I haven't had any probs now by following what they said, so I don't want to blow it now..... thanks for replies....
Hi Jen! I started eating salads a couple weeks ago including all raw veggies per my surgeons plan. I love it!!!
I add kidney beans, black beans and cheese for my protein. So yummy! If I dip my lettuce in dressing I have more control of the amount and use less.
