Tips for Losing Weight Before Surgery!
Hello everyone! (:
I will be getting surgery around March-April (If approved).
My doctor has told me that I have a high chance of getting approved *fingers crossed*
The only thing I am getting extremely nervous about is losing weight before surgery.
According to my nutritionist, she is saying that I need to lose 13lbs.
I haven't lose ANY and it's been a month !
I am going crazy, I am nervous! I need tips on how to get this dang 13lbs OFF!!!!!!!
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![]()
I am also doing the carb thing (surgery in January). It's called Keto and it is a pretty tough diet but you lose a ton of weight on it. No carbs, no sugar (except trace) and high protein high fat. Carbs are unavoidable sometimes (like in nuts and beef jerky-stuff you eat a lot on this diet) but look for the lowest carb option. You need to always eat fat with the carbs. Also, I've lost 8 lbs by giving up soda.
Remember, you will be on a liquid diet before the surgery and most people lose anywhere between 5-15 lbs on the liquid diet. 13 shouldn't be a big deal..especially where you aren't getting the surgery for least 4 months. Keep your chin up!
I lost 45 lbs before surgery (in 5 mos) by following quite a few of the rules that you will need to follow after surgery.
Start by cutting your portions in half (never more than 8oz). Use small plates, spoons and forks. Take at least 30 min to eat your food. Don't drink with your meal or after your meal for 30 min. Pay attention to when you feel full, you should start to feel it around 20-30 min out. Stop as soon as you're full, do not clean your plate.
Make sure you are getting at least 75 grams of protein a day and eat your protein before your other items. Stick to lean proteins and better cooking methods. Start cutting down on sugar now and use whole grains. I was never a big breakfast person, I so did a protein shake in the morning.
Always drink at least 64 ounces of water. Might as well start getting rid of the carbonated beverages while you're at it.
Exercise! Even if it's just walking, you need to do something everyday to get your metabolism moving.
I highly recommend the Mindless Eating book to anyone trying to lose weight:
Good luck!
