Update from the hospital after emergency surgery

Happy you went to the ER. Peterson hernia is one thing my surgeon stressed at surgery time, it's a concern to watch for post RNY surgery.

Hope your recovery goes well.

Boy, glad you are okay!  I have never heard of that?  What is the reason that the lap surgery can cause it?  Is it only common in RNYers?  Take care....

From what I found on the web after being home is that the 'petersen'/'peterson' hernia is a rare complication after having the bypass as the weight loss creates spaces that were not there before and the fat that kinda holds the intestines in place goes away allowing for more movement. Apparently 40% of those with this type of hernia die due to it not being diagnosed in time..so as ladytaz said..its so so so important to make sure the ER doc is aware of our history and for them to be reminded to rule this out.
