I think I found out what's causing my yeast infections...

Milk. *sigh* I did a little experiment the other day and had a protein shake with milk for two mornings. No other milk was consumed. Wouldn't you know, my symptoms started up again today? I haven't taken my medication this AM yet, but it will help.

This is a bit of a bummer because now I need to find another "milk" to use. I thought I was doing well by using Lactaid milk, but I guess that's not going to cut it. Back to the drawing board!

IMO you are full of yeast and the sugar in the milk make the yeast supper active - you may consider taking yeast meds for a few days .. then repeat the same treatment a week or two later. For a year I took Rx diflucan (2 dosages:one then another 3 days later) to control my yeast. Now I probably need to take that once every 2-3 months, but I also don't drink or eat any sugar (including fruits or grains) to control my RH.

As for milk - try unsweet coconut milk - the fat in that milk also helps with yeast- controls that.

My PCP has put me on a long-term course of Diflucan, so hopefully that will help.

I'll check out the coconut milk. I don't think I've tried that one yet. Thanks!

I also use good quality organic cold pressed coconut oil in cooking and for my skin. The diflucan may affect you liver. So be gentle on it while you take that.
Over last 4 years post op RNY I knew I needed diflucan when my cravings for sugar returned. That was a sign for me to take some meds - if I did not - and gave in to sugar and carbs- I would get the physical yeast symptoms. I learned to recognize the pattern.

Good luck.

Thanks! I'm hoping this is the end of it. I've been fighting yeast infections since my liquid diet pre-op. I had NEVER had one before, so I know it's since having surgery. Apparently, I had a "Perfect Storm"--surgery, antibiotics during surgery and an IUD. I don't wish this on anyone! LOL

has anyone been checking their a1c's?

Only time I get dreaded yeast infections is when my sugar is out of control.

I've had it checked twice, with the most recent blood draw being on this past Tuesday. No blood sugar issues. It's just been a clusterf*ck (pardon my French LOL).

I use almond breeze unsweetened almond coconut milk blend.  It is delish.
