Well I went to the dr today and found out I'm malnutritioned and nothing is being absorbed. I know my potassium is low. Now well be checking all my other levels. My dr is very concerned and worried as I hardly eat at all. Have no energy. Have muscle cramping. And massive pain in my joints Long with a pinched sciatic nerve. And my blood pressure was super high as I can't absorb any pills. Now I'm on liquid pain meds and liquid potassium. Monday ill know my other levels to find out if I have to switch to liquid everything. Getting very depressed. Has this happened to anyone else??? Help

Why is it that you are not eating much?  Can you describe what you are eating during the course of the day and how often you are eating?

They will likely put a feeding tube in until they get to the bottom of all this.  Good luck Jane

If you're suffering from malnutrition you probably need a feeding tube. Get copies of your labs, sounds like you have a possibility of several vitamin deficiencies.

How often are you eating and what? Why are you having trouble eating? Are you using shakes if you can't eat enough?

I'm glad you are working with your doctor. Good luck!

What are you eating? You need to make yourself eat even if you are not hungry. What vitamins and supplements are you taking? What were your levels pre-op? I've never heard of anyone getting in such bad shape in just 3 months.

I've tried eating turkey dark meat chicken breasts. Those both put me in severe pain. It just seems like no matter what I do try to eat it makes mr severely nauseated to the point I have to sleep for it to pass. Been eating peanut butter. Rice and beans. I can tolerate chicken or turkey deli meats ok. But when I do eat I can only eat a max if five bites. And I don't feel hungry the rest of the day. Maybe since I'm malnutritioned I'm just not feeling well enuff to attempt eating. I do try to force mysf to eat sum thing. But when I get nauseated from it it makes me not want to eat and have to feel so horrible. Ill be doing a full blood work up in mon to find out what I'm low on besides potassium. I just wish I had energy and my body didn't hurt so bad. Thanks for all the good thoughts and prayers. I am truly thankful for this site and to have ppl here that understand what I'm going thru instead of thinking I'm being melodramatic

How about protein shakes?  Also many post ops have trouble with chicken. Sometimes it is too dry. I was about 7 months out before I could tolerate it.

Have you tried Greek yogurt and cottage cheese?

The way I read it she is not absorbing any nutrients from her food, it doesnt say she isnt eating. Apparently her RNY is working too well. I have read posts where people lose way too much but never one with this much of a problem. They may do as Jane posted and put in a feeding tube. Good luck and keep us posted.
