discouraged for a while
Okay, so I am not "new" to the information though I guess I am new to the surgery, I had mine July 24th so almost 4 months ago. I have lost almost 80 lbs. I am down 3 dress sizes and everyone is always commenting on how much I have changed.
Yet, I have been stuck at the same weight area for over a month now. I go back and forth between 201 and 205. I eat my protein, drink a good amount of fluid and I am up moving all day most days. I know stalls are normal. I get that I was just about a light weight to begin with but I am flustered now. I have done pretty well staying away from the "bad stuff" Halloween was not even a concern for me. I eat about a 1/2 (usually less) at my meals, though some have said I may not be eating often enough.
My Dr said that its good that my body is taking time to catch up with so much weight loss and that I will start back to losing soon. But, I had it in my head I would be farther by now in my weight loss. I even stopped reading this board for a while so I would stop comparing myself to others weight loss. I have a friend who had the surgery and she said that it took her almost 3 years to loose the whole 230 lbs she needed to lose. So I get that sometimes its slower for people.
Don't get me wrong, I am happy about where I have gotten to so far, but that annoying voice in my head that says what if this is all you get.. makes me kinda sad.
The voice in your head doesn't realize that it would be almost unheard of to stop losing at just four months out. You're having a stall. It's normal, they happen. It's frustrating, but still normal. Most people keep losing for at least a year, many for longer than that. I had a month long stall at six months post op and then kept losing until 18 months out. Stay off the scale for a while and concentrate on following your plan.
