Time off of work ?
Most people seem to take two to four weeks off but some need more time, some less. Depends on if you have any complications and just how quickly you recover. I had some problems and ended up being off for almost three months.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
I tried to come back after one week but ended up going home and not coming back for 2 months. I had strictures twice and had to be hospitalized though.
I had surgery on a Monday and returned to work the following Monday. I also have a desk job. I have a history of recovering very quickly following surgery so moved forward with a positive attitude that WLS surgery would be no different. In fact, recovery from WLS was much easier than my orthopedic surgeries as I was not in an arm sling, or on crutches. However, I will admit to being a little tired that first week back to work. Just don't push yourself, listen to your body. Wishing you the very best!
