Malitol syrup and I are not friends...

I got a sample pack from Celebrate, and decided to give their sugar-free calcium chews a try. Boy, that was awful! I didn't actually dump, but I just felt awful for about 45 minutes. I don't have that problem with regular sugar! Sheesh! LOL I guess I'll need to read labels more carefully than even before.

How many did you have? There are only 3 grams of sugar alcohols in each, you must be VERY sensitive!

I had two of them, and I just felt terrible within about 5 minutes. I had experienced gas as a preop, so I didn't give it much thought postop. When I read the ingredients, malitol syrup was the first ingredient. I just won't have those again. LOL

I know more than one person in one support group who have major issues with Malitol. It's not the sugar content, but the nature of that sugar alcohol itself.  Diarrhea, gas and bloating are listed as a possible side effect.  DAVE

I read up on it after I looked at the nutritional info, and saw malitol syrup as the first ingredient. I had gas before, but never extreme nausea like last night. If I could have thrown it up, I think I would have felt better. However, I had to just let it pass. I won't be having those again! LOL
