Pre-op liquid diet weight loss question...

I am currently on day 4 of my two week pre-op liquid diet and have already lost 7lbs. I know I am taking in way less calories, but is it normal to lose so much weight this fast or is it jus****er weight? Should I expect the scale to continue to go down this quickly or will it level out after a few days? Not complaining, just a little shocked.

Most of it is water. You likely have been consuming over 3,000-4,000 mg of sodium per day (especially if you liked chips, deli and fast food) and now you're down to about 1,000-1,500 mg. It will continue and in my opinion you may slow down after the first week. Let us know how much you lose on your pre-op. I lost 30 pounds before surgery but started a "partial" pre-op for 4 weeks and then had a 10 day real pre-op. Most of the pounds came off during the first month. I lost only about 2 pounds on the 10 day pre-op.

I lost that quickly at the start and then it slowed down a bit...but I still lost 15 lbs in two weeks. Keep following the plan! :)

I lost about a pound a day on the pre-op liquid diet...your body will adjust.  At first it is mostly water weight.

be happy and enjoy!

I lost a total of 18 lbs on the 2 week pre op diet.  Most of it was lost in the first week and lost about about 6 lbs of it in the second week.
