Liquids right into soft foods?

Hey everyone. Yesterday I saw my NUT for my two week post op appointment. I thought I was going to be moved into stage 2 purred but she said as of late, she has had patients go right onto soft foods. Has anyone else done it this way? So far, I have been able to tolerate mashed potatoes and turkey deli meat. But today, I got very sick from scrambled eggs...not fun. Being this early, I am so nervous and worrying all the time something is gonna happen.

Plans vary so much. I went from clear liquids to lean meats and green leafy veggies. Eggs are difficult for many early out you might want to wait a few weeks and try again. I couldn't do scrambled eggs for over a year without major discomfort but could eat eyes in tuna or chicken salad.

I got moved to soft food yesterday at 2.5 weeks post op.  So far I have tolerated well the following:  Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, canned peaches and pears, tuna salad, bagel chips.  But right now egg salad is sitting heavy in my pouch, but I think I ate it too fast and maybe had a bite too much.

I am 3 weeks out and was also directed straight to soft foods. A scrambled egg was the first "food" I ate...it seems to be okay for me, as I have had 3 so far. I am also eating turkey meat! I started that today. For the most part though, I tolerate fruit the best (peaches, mandarin oranges, melons, etc...). I'm with you on the worrying part....for me, its easier not to eat. :(

Best wishes for your diet transition!!!!!

I am about 1 and 1/2 weeks out and I started full liquids on tuesday of this week after my first week of clear liquids.  I move to pureed/soft foods next tuesday and I can't wait.  I am so tired of drinking that I just don't even want to eat anymore.  I am currently living off of sugar free popsicles and protein drinks.

I went from clear liquids Day One to full liquids Day Two and then on to limited soft foods on Day Three (while still in the hospital). My surgeon, like some others, found that patients had MUCH more trouble when reintroducing solid foods when they "babied" the pouch with an extended period of liquids and purées than if they went to soft foods very quickly. Most of my surgeon's patients have no trouble eating things like oatmeal, scrambled eggs (although some individuals find eggs hard to handle), cottage cheese, etc. just a few days out of surgery.

By two weeks out I was eating moist chicken, cod (one of the few kinds of fish that I like), tuna (which had to be moistened with LF mayo or something), solid cheeses, etc.. I never got anything stuck (I was instructed to chew everything to "mush"), never got "foamies", and did not throw up a single time from food (there WAS a barium incident, however!****il I was 18 months out.

My plan was liquids, then soft foods after first appt. My first soft meal was 1/3 Wendy's chili, which I tolerated well. The next day, I tolerated soft scrambled eggs. I was also nervous like you, but I did very well. Make sure you measure and chew until mush.
