Protein shakes... Not so much anymore

Hey y'all,
I had surgery on 8/14 and I have enjoyed the protein shakes up until recently. When I drink them I now get sick to my stomach. I have tried the powder ones but I gag on them. I was taking the premier protein one. What should I do? I can not eat enough to get all my protein in that way.
Thanks
Jess
Seems to me that your choices are to:
1) try some other shakes until you find one you like better or
2) start eating more protein from food
Well, I guess you could also not get enough protein or keep using the ones that make you feel sick, but I'd go with option one or two, personally. What brands have you tried so far? How have you tried making them?

I eat all my protein from food. I use protein shakes as a quick go-to or as a snac****asionally. Recently, I've been eating more eggs/egg whites, cheeses (limited), Greek yogurt with granola, fish and shellfish, tempeh and other vegetarian meat options, and beans. I do still eat meat on occasion, but I have to say I'm feeling much better by cutting back on meat in general. I know it's a great source of protein for us, but I'd rather eat other stuff.
I just picked up a hemp shake to try out, but I'm sure I'd only use that after a workout or a snack since it only has 10g protein per serving (not including any protein from almond milk or a similar product).
I'm not a huge fan of protein shakes at all. I prefer protein bars, those are okay for a quick on the go snack. The only way I can stomach the powdered shake mix is when I put it in my coffee. But even if you make your own latte....steaming some skim milk and adding coffee/espresso and SF syrups, you can get in 7-10 grams of protein without the shake mix.
I also sometimes add dry non-fat powdered milk to recipes to add 8 grams of protein for a cup.

I know exactly how you feel! There are protein soups, chips, drinks, smoothies, oatmeal, hot chocolate, etc. Some are really good and some okay but still choices, check out Bariatric Advantage they have some good product!
Good Luck!! Sherry
I never really liked protein shakes. When I was early out I would eat cans of chicken to supplement for the shake. I would mix it with a little mustard or something like that and eat it. a small can of chicken has about 25 grams of protein in it.
early out the only shakes I ever really liked were that EAS miloplex light. They are pre made and come in chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla. They are about $1.50 each so a little pricey.
I recently tried the Matrix Mint cookie and that one is really good too.
