I drink Pepsi Next
I was never forbidden to drink soda.
Having said that I don't do so every day. But when I have the urge, I have a Pepsi Max. Soda is hard to drink though (at least for me). You take a small sip and your pouch gets full of gas. But sometimes the urge is overwhelming so I go for it.
Thankfully I have a fairly progressive surgeon. He's not anti-soda (although he does believe it should be heavily moderated). He's not anti-anything really. He encourages us to have a healthy relationship with all foods/drinks. Even treats.
RNY Gastric Bypass 1-8-08 350/327/200 (HW/SW/CW). I spend most of my time playing with my food over at Bariatric Foodie - check me out!
My doctor says no to carbonated drinks but I just can't get on board. His explanation of stretching my pouch is counter-intuitive. It will be our little secret. I do take small sips. It takes me most of the day to get one down but it is my one indulgence (well that and coffee). Otherwise I treat my pouch with kindness.
Soda CANNOT STRETCH YOUR POUCH.
I was a Tab girl pre-surgery. Believe me when I say that if it wasn't so uncomfortable, I'd still have my 1 per day Tab. But I cannot. A few sips of soda or champagne, and I'm like a Macy's Day float.....it is very uncomfortable ****il I belch like a trucker, and that is soooo ladylike!).
I can drink beer though....bubbles must be different.
