LOL Rock on!

I can't do tonic now. It just doesn't appeal to me. I had some flavored seltzer water about a month out, and stirred out as much bubbles as possible, and it was still uncomfortable. I was burping for quite a while after a few sips. Haha

I burp a lot from it. I tell my husband "I can't help it, it's the surgery". Reality is that I've suppressed burps all my life, now (at home) I can let it rip.

I'm a bit jealous I adored diet pepsi preop I had enough to wet my mouth from my hubby's can and eeeek accckk uckkk how did I ever drink that stuff? It tasted horrible so I'll stick to my water and my new found love diet banana strawberry slurpee but the 7-11 that carries it is like an hour from me so I may have it twice a year lol

I have yet to even have a sip of any kind of soda.  I drank a diet soda everyday pre-surgery.  I was never a big regular soda person, as I was always weary of the calories (ironically).  Now that I am "healthier" I try to stay away from trigger foods/drinks.  However, I know with this upcoming holiday season and wanting to a bit naughty I will want an adult beverage or two along the way.

My question is, I know it's frowned upon, is what is easier on the pouch...Wine? Beer? etc...  I have yet to venture this far, but would like to feel a sense of normalcy even if it takes me all night to drink one.

The other day I made caramel corn for my co-workers for Christmas packs.  I ate a bit of it and it was sooo good.  But got rid of any extra so I wouldn't be tempted.  I tried to eat dinner a couple of hours later, but my stomach didn't let me.  Oh well, it was worth it!

Love this post, by the way.  We can't eliminate everything!

I went three yrs not even wanting soda. Woke up one day in April of this year craving diet coke so bad. I drink it every day now. Quite a bit of it. But i also require myself to drink tons of water too.

Be happy.

LOL I absolutely LOVE this post!!  I had my first diet soda when I was 4 months post op and I had the burping thing too but now it's gotten a bit better.  But there is such a back lash sometimes if you even mention that you have a diet soda....I have gotten it from friends that have had the surgery but yet she drinks hard liquor and wine EVERY DAY.  Thanks for sharing.....made me laugh and think I'm not the only that enjoys a diet pop every now and then!

I agree!  Wine and liquor are ok but diet (or in my case, 60% less sugar) sodas are frowned upon?  No way.  60 calories (or 0) is much better than alcohol (and easier on the liver).  It's not for everyone but it sure helps me to have a couple per week to satisfy that craving.  I've not even tried alcohol yet.  But then I was never a drinker anyway.

Power to the pop!

I have tried Pepsi Next but the sugar in it was too much for me I have enjoyed Pepsi Max!  I was never a big drinker either, I have tried wine since surgery and I don't like the fact that I go from 0 to 60 in just a few sips.  I get super duper drunk from just a little bit so not for me!  I'll keep my liver and stay sober with my diet soda!

My doc never told me to stay away from diet soda.  I was always a coke drinker so coke zero has been my godsend.  I have also become a fan of diet gingerale.

No shooting here.
