Ladies,

were you able to use your polycystic ovarian syndrome as a co-morbidity for your insurance?

I am not sure if my insurance (caresource) will allow this as a co-morbidity.  Does anyone know if PCOS is considered a co-morbid condition ?

Thanks,

Hayley

I have PCOS and my insurance would not accept that as a co-morbidity. I don't think Caresource requires co-morbidities, do they? Unless your BMI is under 40.

Yes, they do require co-morbid conditions. For them to accept your submitted claim, a person with a bmi from 40-50 must have at least 1 co-morbid that is not well controlled with medication. I have a bmi of 47.7 .

I do not think that would be a co-morbidity since it is prevalent at any BMI. I have PCOS but my BMI over 40 qualified me. GERD would have also qualified me if I was under 40 BMI.

I have PCOS, but my insurance didnt accept it. They had five conditions that had to be diagnosed if my BMI was under 40. High blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, sleep apnea or severe degenerative joint disease. One of those had to have been formally diagnosed and required ongoing medical treatment to qualify as a co-morbidity.

I have PCOS and since i take glucophage they consider it a diabetic condition, so my ins did accept PCOS as a co morbidity.

Most insurance companies do not consider PCOS as a co-morbidity.  I've had it since I was a teenager.  It should be.

I feel it should be considered a co-morbid condition as well.

Mine was on my list of co-morbidities, along with other conditions caused by the PCOS.
