How long until you were able to tolerate meat?
Chili is one of the easier things to do. you can make it with what ever ground meat you like. Chicken is hard for a lot of people. The slow cooker is a great tool as well for meats. I made some Round steaks, cut up into strips, in the crockpot with onion, green peppers, mushrooms, and some mushroom gravy and they came out really good. Also you can try pot roast with veggies. Tacos with no shell. Shrimp where really good at that stage.
Ground beef, ground turkey, ground chicken, stew, shrimp(good protein) tuna. I know if I make tacos for the family, i cook my meat, drain it, then add in a small can of tomato sauce, chili powder or taco seasonings and a can of refried beans then cook a few mins to heat everything up. When i eat it, i put it on a plate with some cheese on top. It is really good.
I was eating tuna salad with light mayo, baked chicken with buffalo sauce, and deli turkey at just 2 weeks out (my surgeon allows soft foods very early... Day Three). I also started deli ham not too long after that, but -- for some unknown reason -- found that low sodium ham was easier on my pouch. I also added in some cod pretty early. I did not add in beef except Wendy's chili (which most people find easy to tolerate for some reason) and pork other than deli ham until two months out, per my surgeon's plan.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.

I could eat some things earlier but for the most part, 8 weeks was the magic date for me - all of a sudden everything seemed to be easier to eat after than point. Take it slow and if it doesn't work the first time, give it a few weeks and try again a few weeks later.

Fish, ham, ground beef, tuna, canned chicken as soon as I was allowed solid foods. Regular chicken it was 4 months. Roast beef a little longer. From time to time I still have problems with dense protein like pork chops or roast beef. If it doesn't sit will after a couple of bites I stop. Yes, it is frustrating but it gets better.
I believe I was 3 months out when I was able to handle pork and chicken. Now that I am 9 months out I eat a lot and I mean a lot of turkey. I still can't handle beef very well it seems so heavy and just doesn't want to break down very easily.
Hang in there you will get there!
One month out I was eating tons of eggs for protein. I can remember the day I was allowed to eat eggs, I was so happy. Now I am perfectly content not eating another egg as long as I am alive! :) lol
Good luck and I wish you the best during this amazing journey for yourself!
