Poll- did you "cheat" on your pre op diet?

I know different docs have different recommendations for pre op diets and some don't recommend any special pre op diet at all.  I don't really like the word "cheat" but I'm using it here because I don't know what other word to use.

Whatever your pre op diet was supposed to be, did you stick to it?  Did you "cheat" at all?

If you "cheated," did you tell your surgeon?  As far as you know, did "cheating" have any negative impact on your surgery?

No, I did not cheat on my pre op diet. I had enough to keep me going. I could have 4oz of a protein drink almost

every hour. Then there was the SF popsicles and SF jello. But I am sure glad that it is over.

I was on a complete liquid diet for the 2 weeks prior to surgery (Bariatric Advantage shakes- yuck) and did not cheat at all.

Nope, my preop diet was pretty simple. Protien first, but I could still eat carbs, like toast or half a potato, plus fruits, veggies, dairy and last, fats, like butter or avocado.

Well my pre op diet consist of 4 protein shakes a day, water w/crystal light, and raw veggies. Yesterday was my first day on this 2 week diet and I did cheat. I feel so bad but today is a new day. I'm focused and keeping my eye on the prize.

My pre op is the same at Kenyatta's,except I can have cooked or raw veges.   We have the  same surgery date too.    I started today instead of yesterday.  I don't really think one day will matter.   Right now I don't think I'll tell the doc.  But on my surgery day I may be so scared that I'll confess.    I'm committed to not cheating again, fingers crossed.

Hello Arlene...

This is so hard. I did good on Christmas... nothing but liquids. I feel so weak and nauseous. I had emailed my doctor to see if I could sip on chicken broth too... that would really help me through this two week hell. I need something savory in my life. LOL

I also sent you a friend's request.

Aww, Kenyatta.    I hope you feel better fast.   The warm broth would help.   I bought Trader Joes, fat free, low sodium chicken broth.  It's not bad.   I was ready to eat my pillow last night!   I'm all about the savory too.    I got and accepted your friend request.  I have my pre op tomorrow at Einstein, Elkins Park.
