You will not feel full or should you feel hungry until your pouch starts to mend the nerves.  There are other ways that people with wls feel full. Hiccups, Pain under rib or in shoulder.  It is not unusual to not feel at this point.

Hi there, I'm just 6 weeks post op but I started feeling hunger around 3 weeks post op, shortly after I started eating food (pureed/soft). I was so upset because I've read about people not feeling hunger for months after surgery. I also felt so discouraged because even after I ate my 4tbsp portion of food, I didn't feel full. I've talked to both my surgeon and therapist about this. For me, what it comes down to is that my whole life, I always ate until I was stuffed and completely full.... so full that I was uncomfortable. Now, since the surgery, I am having to learn so many things including how to eat portion sizes that are enough for my new pouch but not enough to make me sick. I'm having to get in touch with my body and learn that "satisfied" does not equal "stuffed", "full", and miserable. This is a hard thing for me but it is part of the journey. Just know you're not alone in your feelings. Try to focus on eating slowly and learning what "satisfied" feels like. Also from what I've read from the veterans on here, "full" and sick is often times just one extra bite from "enough". Take care and hang in there! -Kim

Just stick to measuring out your food. You will not feel full, you will feel over full once you have eaten to much and then its to late. So just keep measuring your food, eat what your allowed and drink more water.
