I am five months post op. I'm not taking any form of birth control but recently started having periods that are lasting a long time. Should I contact my dr to stop the bleeding ???? I'm getting concerned how long it's lasting and I e recently had issues with low folic acid vitamin d and iron and started taking supplements for that...could that be the issue???

see your doctor as you may have a hormone imbalance or need a scan to see what is causing this. good luck.

It's not uncommon for your cycle to be messed up for a while after surgery and while you're losing weight rapidly.  It still seems like a good idea to talk with your doctor, though, to make sure there's nothing medically wrong that's causing it.  Also, if you're bleeding a lot, you'll want to get some blood work done more often, including a CBC, iron and ferritin, because you may need to take extra iron for now.

Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR.  If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor.  Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me.  If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her.    Check out my blog.
