i eat out alot at all kinds of places. for the most part, i don't ever have a problem finding something that i can eat. i also have no qualms about asking for modifications to a dish, like no bread or sauce on the side.

I eat out quite often, between work and school and friends I eat out at least 2-3 times per week. I almost never have a problem finding something that will work for me, I often order soup, salad with chicken, or some sort of meat. I would say the shorter list is of things I shy away from which are foods like pasta burgers or any carb based meals. I also try to stay away from creamy or milk products because I'm now lactose intolerant. I always take home food from a restaurant usually 2-3 more meals worth. As for fast food I really try to avoid it but I have secret cravings for Wendy's spicy chicken nuggets.

We eat out fairly often and I don't have an issue finding things to eat. I focus on finding a good protein first - grilled chicken or steak, even a burger (although I usually skip the bun). I often share with my hubby so I just take a small scoop of the starchy side and let him have the rest and we share the veggies. (if we don't share, I just take a box home for another meal or two) I am careful with breads and other things that aren't ideal, like chips & salsa, but I don't totally deprive myself of them 100% of the time either. It is completely possible to enjoy eating out after WLS!

At McDonald's I get a southwest chicken salad with grilled chicken. I had that today.  Some people have an issue with raw veggies, but I have no problem with them.

Chik-Fil-A has a grilled chicken nugget kids' meal.

Qdoba has a naked burrito kids' meal.

Panera has great salads. I love their Asian chicken salad. And they have multigrain bread, too, if you're OK with carbs.

I like breakfast foods at Bob Evans.  If I get an omelet I cut it in half and save the other half for later (or give it to my son or husband.)

At places like Outback and Carrabas I get my old favorites, cut them in half, and save half. I get extra veggies instead of starchy things.

went out a few days ago and ordered dinner that comes with salad and sides...had shrimp, about 2 bites of salad greens and about 2 bites of baked potato. I usually will order steak or seafood.

I'm 4 years out and eat out a lot. The best thing is if you have somebody that will share with you. My husband will sometimes, and sometimes my mom will. Examples from some of my favs:

Kickback Jacks - My husband orders a philly steak sandwich and instead of fries, he orders me a chili as his side. Then I order a small side salad.

Mexican places - I usually get 1 shrimp quesadilla. Or if someone wants to, I will split fajitas

Subway and chicfila are the best!

fast food places I usually go for the kids meal or chicken nuggets. I will sometimes get one of the wraps at McDonalds, but I ask for it plain.

At seafood places my husband will get fried shrimp and get me a loaded baked potato. (this one is a treat, only about once a month)

You can do it as long as you can survive the temptation. I know that french fries have become my weakness now, so I have to try to stay away from them!

-Good luck!

My refrigerator is full of left over meals that have at least two more servings in them.  We eat out at Chinese, and American theme restaurants but not Mexican or Italian and never fast food drive through.   I can't eat salads much so it's mostly the meat that I save.
