8 days post-op, super discouraged

Hang in there. The weight will come off.  I was so disappointed when I came home from the hospital post op (on Christmas eve).  I got on the scale and had gained 11 lbs.  I was so upset and ready to throw my hands up.  It's all in the past now and I am so happy with my RNY.

As far as the constipation is concerned, I have found Mirilax  to be very good.  I would be  careful, though with the ducolax because I think it might be a bit too harsh, especially with your surgery having been just a week ago.

I came home from the hospital 11 pounds heavier than when I went in. Had you weighed when you got home, you probably would have been heavier too. It takes a while just to get that off. It is good that we get all of those fluids though, I am sure that it is the reason many people don't get dehydrated in the early days not being able to drink much. The water that you get in now will help flush out that excess fluid. No worries, you will see the pounds come falling off over the months to come.

Don't let the scale define your successes!

I love that!  I'd like to make it a goal to stay off the scale as much as possible....its crazy how a few numbers can mess with a girls mind!
