Pre-Op Appointment?

What do they do to you for the pre-op appointment, the day before your surgery???

All mine did was check me in, since my surgery time was at 5am. paperwork, insurance, blood work if they need it.

I did my pre-op a week before, saw the nurse, checked all my vitals, took a nose swab for MERSA and then went to pay my co-pay.  Also saw respiratory therapist and got my spirometer.  Good luck!    Jane

We have a nutrition class that day. Then a visit with the doc to sign papers, then I meet with anesthesia. They have to check my airway, etc. Labs too.

think it all depends on the doctor and the hospital. I just had a 5 min appt where I signed the papers went over what I wanted what to expect. Mine was about 5 days before my surgery

At my pre-op appointment they took blood and urine, they also did an EKG. Then I met with the anesthesiologist. They explained how things would go and where I needed to arrive. The nurse gave me special soap to use the morning of surgery.  As far as the lab results went they told me no news was good news and they would let me know if they found a showstopper. My surgery was the morning after Christmas so I figured they would call me the evening of the pre-op appointment if there was a problem, but there wasn't one.

I also had surgery 12/26. How are you doing so far? I'm doing ok, I suppose. I should be walking more, but weather is horrid. I should be drinking more, but working on it.
