I know alot a people go on a liquid diet a few weeks prior to surgery and NPO 12hrs before surgery. Did u have a favorite meal that u wont be able to eat after RNY, or did u stick to the liquid diet? What was ur last meal?

I considered my "last meal" before RNY to be the meal I ate before starting my liquid diet.  Once I started the liquid diet, I didn't look back.  BUT, I had a wonderful last meal!  My mother and daughter took me to the Cheese Cake Factory!  I had Chicken Bellagio and a piece of cheese cake.  Ate most of it!  Now, post-rny, the thought of that meal makes me feel ill.

I had Fried Catfish, hushpuppies, french fries, and a side salad with extra ranch dressing!  Plus I used LOTS of homemade tarter sauce!!  I also had a couple of bites of Pecan Pie.

It was amazing but now I could never even dream of eating like that again.  Before surgery I would eat that same meal at least twice a week.  I would have easily said it was my favorite food.  Its hard to believe it has been over two months since I've had it and I don't even feel like I am missing it.

I went out to dinner with a group of friends to celebrate my "last dinner" before surgery. I had been following the post-op weight loss diet for 2+ months and had lost 40 pounds, so this was to be my GO WILD meal. I had prime rib (about 3 ounces) one bite of potato and a few steamed veggies. I topped that off with a single bite of my daughters dessert.... As much as I thought that I would go wild, I didn't at all! I just had this thought that I would gain all the weight back if I did,  ridiculous, huh?

My psychological "last meal" was actually a week before surgery even though I didn't have to do an all liquid diet until the day before surgery.  My RNY was the day before my birthday, so my last splurge meal was dinner at Ruth's Chris steakhouse the previous week.  I had a wonderful filet mignon, au gratin potatoes, broccoli, and Creme Brûlée for dessert. I spent the next week eating up leftovers and what I had in the house that I couldn't eat afterward.

My ACTUAL last meal before surgery was a grilled cheese sandwich (extra cheese) on white bread and tomato soup with oyster crackers for lunch.  And something for dessert, I am sure... I just don't remember what.

I was on a diet for a month before surgery. The day before I was on liquid only and the last 12 hours I was npo. Why do you feel you need a last meal, are you going to die? After WLS you will be able to eat just about anything you want, just in limited amounts. At least that is what I am told, so who knows what my last meal will be I hope many years from now. No need for a last meal, just see how much you can lose before surgery so there is less fat inside you so your surgeon will have a better time.

I don't feel that I "HAVE" to have a last meal. HOWEVER, I DO want to adopt a healthier way of living and I DONT want to eat the things that I eat now nor do I want to eat the amount of food that I do now, which is why I elected to have surgery in the 1st place. If YOU DIDNT have a favorite meal that you had to give u*****t eat as much of once u had RNY that is great for YOU!

To be honest, I had several last meals before my two week pre-op diet.  I went to Merichkas for a steak poorboy loaded with garlic butter, double baked potato and small salad.  I hadn't had it in so long and figured I never would after surgery....it was good!
