My last few meals were water to stay hydrated.  I had to lose 10lbs and maintain that lose or risk being cancelled.  There is no such thing as a last meal unless you are on death row.  Skip it, it is meaningless.

Yes! I've heard of that. My friend had to loose a certain amount before she was even considered and she had to maintain that weight up to the day of surgery. It's alot of things that I know I will not eat after RNY  that are my favorite now.

I don't really think I had a "last meal". I ate some chicken and veggies and so e egg drop soup. Then I had to fast for a few hours. That's it. Nothing fancy.

I was allowed to eat until midnight the night before. On our way to stay the night near the hospital we stopped at Red Robin so I could have a Banzai burger with sweet potato fries, and late that night I went to a drive through for  McDonald's French fries.

We went out with friends to a local favorite pub.  I had bangers and mash, quesadilla appetizer, and about a gallon (kidding of course) Diet Coke.  In the weeks prior I had my last Big Mac, last Whopper, last Chinese meal.  I had a 3 day clear liquid diet over New Years weekend...TORTURE!

In the last few weeks before surgery (12/26), my husband took me out to a few of our favorite places to eat. I didn't have a firm surgery date until two weeks prior, and had to do a liquid diet just two days before. We hit Red Robin and Logan's, and our two favorite breakfast dives, but no over-indulgence. Fortunately, unrelated to my surgery date, we'd planned to do Christmas the weekend prior to Christmas, so I did get to indulge in some of my family's favorite potluck fares. I didn't look at them like they were "last meals", but maybe as a visit to a place I may not be able to see for a long time. Kind of like saying goodbye to a good friend who was leaving on an extended vacation or missions trip.

My biggest issue since surgery, is wanting to at least taste the things my husband cooks for dinner, like real mashed potatoes, lasagna, bean soup, and others. My son and his friend had pizza the other night, and I took a pinch of the toppings from my son's piece. I think that those bites actually satisfy my need to chew and eat "normal" food. After my 2 week appt, we went to one of my breakfast places, and I had a poached egg, a sausage link, a few bites of potatoes w/onion, and 1/2 piece of rye toast (soaked in egg yolk or the 1/2 cup decaf with cream I had before breakfast). I don't feel deprived at all, but am still having trouble getting in all of my liquids. I think if I flavored my water, I could look forward to it more....any suggestions?

I've lost about 18 lbs since surgery, 10 lbs before, and 60+ since my highest.

I didn't do a "last meal" my pre-op nutrition class told us not too because we tend to over do it and if we treat this surgery right we should be able to have anything we would like later but in moderation. The day before surgery I had some pizza rolls. I got my call on 1/12/2012, which was a thursday,  that I was approved and we was looking at Monday for surgery. I was on my way to the Dr's office. I quit eating my pizza rolls because I knew I would be on a liquid diet until surgery and got to the Dr's office while waiting to do pre-op they asked if they could do my surgery the NEXT day. So I had my surgery on Friday, January 13th.

No looking back or regrets at all...

I ate a lot of pasta in the couple of weeks before surgery along with going to Fogo De Chao for the best cooked and seasoned meats ever ever.
