OT Daughter update
We know how Cheryl N feels and I feel that she is entitled to post her opinion as we all are!!! A pile on is not really justified!!!!!
However ... as the mum of a son with autism, I too have faced criticism on this forum in the past because we, as a family have our views regarding the origin of our son's condition as well as the way we chose to treat or not treat him!
You have done what you feel is right for Chloe and that's it! You will need to accept that other people have different opinions and learn to march to the beat of the drum you have chosen.
I'm glad that this is working out for you and your family - it has been lovely watching this all unfold!

I'm sure everyone has seen this video by now. It's amazing and makes me cry EVERY time I see it. It's a gift of sound. Very proud of you, Paul, for giving your daughter such a gift. You'll always get support from me.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!
I am a preschool teacher and teach a lovely class of 2 year old's. I have a hearing impaired student who has one CI. We talk and sign with him and he talks and signs with us. I think its important to teach oral and signing. There are times when his battery dies at preschool. On those days I'm so thankful that he is able to sign with us and tell us his wants and needs. Technology is AMAZING! As a parent and a teacher I believe in doing all we can to help our children thrive. You know your intentions and how much you love your daughter and that is all that matters. Blessings to you and your family!
Dear Paul,
As you know I'm all about technology, so I love seeing people utilize the best science has to offer. Lets face it without it, we'd still be hunkering down in caves, hunting and gathering. Actually, now that I think of it, without even rudimentary technology we'd never have made hunting tools, so we'd probably be extinct.
Your daughter is very lucky to have a father like you. I see no need to second guess yourself, care what others think, or even feel you need to explain anything to anyone in regard to your decision. You've obviously given a great deal of thought on how to provide the best quality life for your daughter not only in regard to how you handled this situation, but also in how you changed your own life to ensure you were in good health, and by providing a good example to them by having WLS.
You've done your BEST, and that my dear WLS brother is all you can ever do.
