Can you drink alcohol 6 months after surgery
At a little over 4 years out, I drink very occasionally and have since about month 5 or 6. I usually will have a glass of white wine, and once in a very great while I will have a glass and a half. I love strawberry daiquiris, so I do those too - but they are so sugary I have to make my husband share mine or I will dump.
One caveat. IF you decide to drink, which is totally your decision, please do NOT drink and drive under absolutely ANY cir****tances. As RnY post-ops, many of us can feel completely sober after a very short period of time and maybe mentally we are. But our bodies will still show an elevated blood alcohol level - elevated enough to get a DWI. On the odd occasion when I do consume alcohol, I will actually wait until the next morning or later before getting behind the wheel of a car.
Also I think someone mentioned it earlier, but you really probably want to "test-drink" at home. It would be no fun finding out you dumped on alcohol or that it had some other deleterious effect on you only once you were out and about.
Best of luck to you on your journey and enjoy your trip to Disney!
I had a glass of Sangria last night. Ugggghhhh I felt horrible and dizzy and blahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh......
I have never been a drinker but 1 year after surgery I had maybe a half a glass of wine. It hit me hard and fast, I could barely walk and it looked like I downed an entire 12 pack. As quickly as it hit me I was fine and functional in 30 minutes. If you do drink be careful and remember it will hit you harder and take less to get you tipsy
