I m actually 6 days post op lol is it ok to suck on sugar free candies and sugar free gum?

Sure, just don't swallow that gum. ;)

I think those are fine as long as you don't swallow either. I have sucked on sugar free mints. I am 9 days post-op and have a hard time getting in adequate fluids. I enjoy sugar free popsicles once in awhile too. They are less than 2 oz of liquid but at least it is something.

i did..but i noticed that too many made me have to run to the bathroom for diarrhea

Watch out for the sugar alcohol content. Most sugar free candy is loaded with it. Sugar alcohols can cause horrible tummy pain and lots of trips to the bathroom if you are super sensitive. I can get away with a sugar free "ice breaker" mint once in a while but not much more than that.

I remember being told not only could swallowed gum cause a blockage, too much chewing motion can cause intestinal issues like gas, acid, etc.  Gum probably falls under the category of "to be avoided."   (I bought sugar-free Altoids at four weeks post op and experienced no problems, maybe cause they are such a tiny mint)
