Can you take Maxalt after surgery??

I suffer from migraines and even though they're much better than they were before the birth of my son 7 years ago, I still have to take Maxalt probably about 4 times a month.  Just wondering if it's something that I'm going to still be able to take after I have surgery??  I couldn't find any real information about it and forgot to ask the doctor at my last appointment.  I will ask him at my next one but thought that maybe someone here would know.  Thanks in advance!

I was given Maxalt fast melts specifically for post-op so I wouldn't have to swallow my Imatrex pills if I didn't want to so I would imagine you'd be fine.

I also have maxalt fast melts and regular pills...I take them if I need to. My surgeon knows I take them and has never said anything about me not taking them. They are not NSAIDs so I dont see a problem but I would still ask your Dr. since we are all different.

I also get migraines and when I asked my surgeon's office the lady told me only use extra strength Tylenol and nothing else....yeah like that would ever touch a migraine.

I use Maxalt melts too and have had no side effects at this point,

Yes Maxalt is ok to take, I've made sure before my surgery.

Thanks for the responses.  I feel a lot better now.  Maxalt is the only thing that seems to work for my migraines (most of the time anyway) and that may have been a deal breaker if it was one of the things I would not be allowed to take after surgery.

Maxalt and Imitrex are both fine, and so is Fioricet. (Not FioriNAL which has aspirin in it.) I get the best results when I take a Sumatriptan along with Fioricet.

Also, ask your doc about Alsuma. It's a Sumatriptan injection, and you can get a discount card for $4 per Rx (which is 6 injections.)
