OT-HOLY SNOW BATMAN!!
The forecast is calling for 24+ inches of snow tomorrow thru Saturday!! I am happy to stay in but hope that I don't lose power. Safety is such a concern with amazingly high tides (I live in a coastal community, although I personally am a couple of miles inland). I can't even imagine how crowded the grocery store is going to be today. My daughter was called in to work at her grocery store job as an extra shift tonight in anticipation.
Stay safe all!

Wow. I am so glad I don't live there.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
Be careful and prepare as best you can. I've been in contact with a couple of ladies I know on the east coast, it's looking pretty awful for all of you.
Any chance you have a wood burning fire place/stove?

I see you are in New Hampshire- I am in New York City and right on that line between getting 24 inches and 12 inches. I just got back from the grocery store. I am concerned about possibly losing power, too, but because of 9/11 my building is on a different power grid and so far it has treated us well. Good luck to you!!!
We're bracing for it here, too (Boston). They are talking anywhere between 12" and 33" of snow depending on what weather station you want to listen to. We are pretty well stocked up on candles, batteries, flash lights, etc. I'll be picking up some (healthy) canned chili and beans and peanut butter this afternoon (I already have a manual can opener ) and possibly a big roast or ham. Before big winter storms, I like to cook a large meat roast so that if the power goes out we can eat slices of it cold. In the winter, refrigeration isn't a problem, even if we lose power, since I can put it in a tupperware container in the car and it will stay cold enough.
The thing that really stinks this time is that my wife is going from her 1st job, directly to her 2nd job on Friday afternoon for the overnight shift. This means that she may not be able to come home on Saturday morning if no other staff can get in to relieve her or the roads are too bad. So, I might be on my own through the nasty weather.
Come visit me on my blog, Through a Cooking Glass! I talk about my journey through WLS and learning to live, cook, and eat on the other side.
