Real Food!

My surgery was on 12/31/12.  I've been in the hospital twice since then for upper and lower GI (ulcer) bleeds.  Last time required two bags of blood.  All of this means I've never even made it past broths, ricotta and cottage cheese.  Mostly out of fear I think and almost constant nausea.  My Dr. ordered Zofran and that seems to help the nausea.  Today, however I had about 1/8th of a cup of pozole (a Mexican soup that my family makes all the time).  We make it with chicken breast instead of pork and less chile since all of our stomachs are sensitive.  I ate some without nausea, pain or discomfort!  Real food!  I'm so excited!  I thought I was going to  be stuck with broth for the rest of my life!  And pozole has got to be one of my favorite foods ever!  Yayyyyy!  No nausea and real food, I haven't felt this good for months!

I remember laughing and telling my friend that there were people in third world countries who wouldn't have gotten as excited as me over my first scrambled egg post-op! LOL!
