I hate meat

Yea I'll make chicken salad with either Rotisserie chicken, canned chicken, or dark meat (like boneless, skinless thighs cooked in the crock pot.) Then I'll give it a whiz in the processor to make it smaller. Add some hard boiled eggs, mayo, pineapple crushed, parsley. Bam, delish.
I also eat a ton of cooked, peeled shrimp. Last night I grilled some huge shrimp and scallops to put over pasta for the boys. I just ate the seafood while they enjoyed the pasta.
I eat those fake krab sticks for snacks.

I do like those imitation crab sticks too - I forgot I had some in the freezer.  Might have to bring them out and see if I can tolerate those :)

Meat is tough for a while,  but it does get better.  Try making tuna salad and chicken salad with plain greek yogurt and lt. mayo.  It will bump up the protein.  Supplement with protein drinks.

Eggs, cottage cheese, riccota cheese, fish, shrimp, ham were easy for me at first.  Chicken, pork, beef (except ground) were difficult.

I like salmon, steelhead trout and tilapia (I buy iat Costco or Sam's frozen individualy packaged).   I don't like beef too much, found I can only eat the thigh of chicken, do like pork chops on the grill.   I also like cottage cheese with shredded Parmesan baked in oven for 15-20 min.  I really like Dilusso oven roasted turkey from the deli, eat alone or with a pice of Dilusso baby Swiss cheese (brands really matter to what I like..)    Frigo string cheese is good too.

I "liked" fish before, but now I love  it!   My tastes has  changed, don't like beef anymore.  Maybe you should try salmon with some good spice (I pan fry with Pam spray).  Tilapia is a very mild fish...

I cannot eat chicken, red meat and sushi since my surgery. I'm 16 months post op and have lost 135lbs.... 10 lbs away from my goal weight of 150... Completely changed the way I eat. lightly scrambled eggs or over easy, sautéed tofu, turkey burgers and yogurt have become my main source of protein.

i see my food restrictions as a blessing because I can't tolerate ice cream, chocolate, sugary or fried foods and fast food. One year out I slowly tried the above foods and each didn't agree with me. Try and sample foods you wouldn't normally have. Our taste buds change after surgery. I miss sushi like crazy and have found any food such as rice that is dense will not stay down or easily digest. lobster is one of my faves but happens to be too rich for me. Tilapia or lox agree with me and I find creative ways to steam and season fish.

Also my sense of smell changed too....bacon or broccoli cooking ruins my appetite. Hang in there. This is a journey and you will find foods that are nutritious and that you enjoy. lots of good choices out there.

Why does your doctor want you to stop using shakes if you are having trouble getting enough protein without them?  Would he prefer you eat meat if that causes you discomfort?  And if so, why does he think it's preferable to be in pain or feel sick then to drink a shake?  Personally, I'd choose the shake over eating something that hurt or made me ill.

Oh, no.  He doesn't want me to stop using them if the food is causing discomfort, that is just a goal to get away from the shakes and move to only real food.  At this point, I am choosing to have a shake for breakfast until I get this meat thing under control.  :)
