Recovering from 2/11/2013 RNY
Monday surgery - it was moved up from 2/15 per the surgeon - caused a few bumps due to rushing things but at least I have the 'hard' part behind me. Now just to get better! For you Alaskans, be aware that my surgeon WILL NOT give you anti-nausea meds. That was the very hardest for me, I had some pain med that I knew I couldn't tolerate from prior experience so once I was off the pump I had no pain meds, but I was fine with that. The nausea though kept me from drinking anything more than 1/4 teaspoon an hour or so, if that. But thanks to my stalwart son and daughter-in-law going to bat for me, the dr did give me 6 pills I can take as needed so I am very much a happy camper today.
I went home on Tuesday, am walking a lot and am up to about 1/2 C fluid every two hours or so, so that is much better. I am not even going to think about protein or vitamins for a while, until I can get fluids in me. That and the awful edema - I don't normally suffer from this but my fat little feet are awful - so I just keep walking hoping to push that through.
Now I'm trying to work on this rat's nest on my head - early surgery meant I didn't get my hair in a french braid so my very long and heavy hair is a super-scary snarl- I need a comb and conditioner stat LOL!
All in all, despite my little bumps I am super-happy this is done and I'm started on my way. And I hear it all the time here but it' true: every day does get better!!!
