Has surgery effected my immune system?

I didn't get a print out the last time my labs were checked, but the time before that they were okay. I think I will up my D3 for a while and see if that helps. Thank you Kelly I appreciate your input. I know I am tired of catching every little thing, now I can't wait to get my labs done again and I will insist I get a copy so I can track them.

It will hurt. It will take time. It will require dedication. It will require willpower. It requires sacrifice. There will be temptation. But, I promise you, when you reach your goal, it's WORTH IT! (Author Unknown). I feel this sums up my ongoing journey to a healthier me!

I am also the exact opposite.  I didn't get a single cold or flu bug until I was more than three years post-op! I also used to get a yearly bout of bronchitis, and have not had it at all in the 6 winters since my surgery!  I have had a couple of cold/flu incidents since then, but still at a much lower frequency than before my RNY (and that seems to be pretty typical).

I would definitely encourage you to get copies of your previous lab results to see exactly where things stand.  Having lab values that are in the "Normal" range doesn't necessarily mean your levels are "good", and our levels can drop very precipitously for a number of different vitamins, so being on the low side of "normal" isn't good for us.  It is possible, though, that your body is just very stressed because of the surgery and then the drastic decrease in calories.  (Are you sure you are eating enough?)
