asking again...vets please chime in
I think I need to re-word a questions I asked yesterday. Don't think I was clear
When I get ferociously hungry, I eat, thinking I will slip into a binge. BUT, every single time, as soon as I've had a small amount of food, I'm completely satisfied and don't want to eat anything else.
This is a WONDERFUL thing for me, as I've never had a "shut off" trigger before. Now, once I'm full, I don't WANT any more food.
My question is to the vets: Has anyone else experienced this? If so, did it last????
I'm praying this lasts forever, because if it does, I have even more hope of reaching goal and staying there.
My solution to ferociously hungry is eating on a regular schedule and not getting hungry like that.
I found I lost my "shut off" about two years out but now that I'm on a regular eating schedule I almost never even get close to a binge. No, I don't "snack" all the time. I have scheduled meals (about six small meals a day).

Thanks for the replies. It's nice to have some good advice from those who have gone before me
Unfortunately, on days I work, an eating schedule is out of the question. Everyone is very supportive, but the patient always comes first, so I get to eat when I get to eat. Which means sometimes I get very hungry before I get a couple of minutes to eat something. But I do my best to keep to 5-6 small meals per day as much as humanly possible. And you're right, when I eat at regular intervals, I don't get crazy hungry.
5 years out and my "shut off" trigger still works - I am glad, too, because I don't dump on anything, so the full feeling helps me control portions. I do get a little hungry now and then, but nothing close to like before the surgery. If I grab something or find myself grazing it's usually head hunger or emotions, and not true hunger.

usually, yes. i have had a few slips, especially if cookies are involved. i've also noticed i have a tendency to do it before a thesis deadline. luckily after this week i only have 1 left, but obviously its the big one! i made sure the only thing i have to "binge" on in the apartment is grape tomatoes and green grapes this weekend, but the real issue will be when i need to go get milk tomorrow!
