I had my RNY around 10ish this morning. been in and out of it all day. sleeping mostly. Anyway surgeon said no complications and surgery took around 2 hours or so. Walked like 4 laps already. First laps within hours of being in my room. Thanks for prayers and positive thoughts now I'm on, the losers bench.

Yay!!! Be sure to do your breathing exercises with the incentive spirometer.  I didn't use mine much at all and got a little pneumonia in my left lung and wound up back in the hospital.

Congratulations on doing so well!! WTG with the walking!!

Pam

Congratulations.... an amazing journey awaits you.  Keep moving.  Walking is very important.    It gets your blood moving (circulation) and helps your lungs with oxygen exchange.  Your wounds heal faster when you have good circulation.  Ambulating also helps get your bowels back in working order (notice that you maybe burping and passing gas).  Sitting or laying down for too long can make your muscles atrophy. Furthermore, walking improves your mood.  The list of benefits go on and on....hey enough reading....get up and go for a walk.
