If my friend says these things I wonder what my haters say

You did the right thing.  Unfortunately there are so many negative people in life that if they are miserable they expect and want others to be the same.

It took me some time to realize I didn't need that and ditch those sucking the life out of me.  I've never been this happy in my life, it's refreshing!

Most of my "friends" used to be ****s to me. I have fewer people to hang out with now, but I don't hang with anybody who doesn't like me. It's better for my self-esteem. Good for you, kicking her to the curb!

Glad you got rid of her. She was certainly not a friend! It sounds like she was just jealous.

I have someone in my life that is the same way, unfortunately its my sister and all I can try to do is avoid her.  I'm not even letting her know that I am having surgery because of the way she acts.

Ugh! My 'bestie' says things like, "Maybe a cupcake won't hurt," when I was 9 weeks out from surgery, on my birthday. She orders pancakes with diabetic syrup, then has dessert. We vacationed together for a week, when I was a month out. When we went grocery shopping, she got all sorts of "goodies," which I can't fault her for, but she ate constantly, slept until noon, and then got upset when my mom and I went to town without her. We got a piercing one morning and a tattoo the next, to celebrate our weight losses, and friend got upset that we would do that w/out her. Needless to say, we haven't seen much of each other since that trip. I have no ambition to shop all day, go to breakfast every day, or sleep in until noon. Instead, I go to the gym 3-4 times per week, then have a sensible brunch with my husband before he goes to work.

We have little in common anymore, and I'm not sure if I care to invest more energy into the relationship when I am feeling so settled and at peace with my life right now. My friend is very critical, too. I agree, that we have to make our own weather, and if that means moving (on), then so be it!
