Recipes and protein shakes.
Hello everyone !
I am a soon-to-be loser (RNY), and I am doing my homework before surgery. I have already stocked up on my vitamins and minerals and now I am looking into buying some protein powders.
I know that the NUTS suggest whey protein isolate so I would like to hear about your own recipes that you have tried at home with this specific type of protein.
The brands you have used, where you purchased those and how much they cost,I have heard that some people mix Crystal Light with yogurt in their protein shakes.
I am also interested in food recipes also, as I have never paid much attention to the protein content on food labels before. Oh and just a quick question, WHAT THE HECK DOES PB2 STAND FOR LOL ?
Thanks for all the suggestions !
Welcome! There are many different types of protein powder. It would be good to try some samples first...I think it is vitalady.com that has sample packets you can get for a reasonable price. I had surgery over 2 years ago and I used Body Fortress which I got at Walmart and some grocery stores had it too. It was about $16.00 for a tub. If you go to the website www.bariatricfoodie,com she has a large number of recipes for making many different shakes. She also has many good recipies for food and lots of helpful hints. There is also a website www.theworldaccordingtoeggface.com she has a lot to offer you there also. I wish you the best on your new journey to health. This is the beginning of something great....enjoy!

1st go to http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com
She has an amazing website w/ lots of food ideas.
As for protein shakes unjury.com is my favorite. It's so good they taste too good to be good for you. you can order samples from them.
PB2 (google it) but it's a form of ground up peanuts that has less fat. You can get it in the supermarket.
I've added it to a chocolate protein shake & it was like have a reeses pb cup in a glass.
When are you going for surgery

Also eggface's website has some amazing recipes (listed above!)
My favorite brand of whey isolate is Nectar - buy lots of samples and keep trying different flavors at different times. Your tastebuds may change, so what you like today may be disgusting 2 weeks post op but you might love again 6 months postop. Unjury chicken broth was a LIFESAVER for me postop, when everything just tasted too sweet and I couldn't tolerate anything cold!
