When did you start "real" food? What were you first foods to try?
I started solids at just this past Thursday, and really, I've not changed much from the "soft food" stage. I will second the "chew chew chew" advice the others gave...it is so important. I had some shrimp last night...and it was a bit rubbery...so much so that i was chewing for so long that i decided that it wasn't going to break down enough and i was scared to swallow it. So I spit it out and ate the veggies...then had another protein shake. Ha! I have no problem with chicken as long as i chew, and make sure i have some sort of sauce, or liquid with it. I've been using lemon juice quite a bit lately because it adds flavor, and moisture! Fish is REALLY good to eat at this stage too.
Hum, as for me I just am year out. You would think this would stand out to me, but really I kinda moved from things like scrambled eggs to baked fish, and finally to chicken. At six months out I tried some actual beef steak and I just ate really slowly and chewed the heck out of it. Not a problem at all. The only real surprise to me was I had a small blueberry muffin with a salad and unknown to me that thing was loaded with sugar. I learned that day that it takes very little sugar to make me dump. I am more tolerant now but really the dumping gives me strong motivation to not even be tempted by bad foods. On my birthday I did have three small bites of birthday cake and that was plenty.
