Protein Shakes Making me feel Sick.
I had the same problem, and essentially, stopped using them. The only kind that doesn't really bother me is the zero carb Isopure clear pre-made protein drinks.
If there is lactose in them, try using a Lactaid pill. If you are making them with milk, try using water, or a lactose-free type milk. If neither of those things work, then I'm really sorry. It sucks.

Check your protein powder. If it has whey concentrate listed in the ingredients...the powder has lactose in it. Even if you mix it with water... if you are lactose intolerant...it will bother you. There are lots of whey powders that are 99% lactose free. I use Body Fortress Whey Isolate from Walmart. It says right on the label 99% lactose free. Mixing with Lactaide milk, soy milk or almond milk will not help if the protein powder is loaded with lactose.
Also - I noticed that after a few weeks of drinking certain protein drinks i needed a flavor break. I would start gagging if I tried to drink them...not sure why. Then I'd try something else and not have an issue. I recently tried Nectar fruit powder you mix with water and they aren't bad. You can try sample pouches of them if you go to the Vitamin Shoppe.
But I'd have to agree it could be the Lactose being the issue. Even if you didn't have any issue before lots of people do post-op.
Good luck and I hope you find something that works for you!
