RNY folks CAN have NG tubes.  What is advised against for us is NG tubes inserted blind.  But there is no reason you can't have an NG tube if needed.

The only RnY thing mine says is "No Blind NG." If I'm having a heart attack I want NSAIDs.

If I didn't have other med-alert worthy conditions I probably wouldn't bother, but since I have one anyway I added the NG tube thing.

I don't wear one because no one is going to try and pass a blind NG tube in the field;  if I have a heart attack, I WANT someone to give me aspirin;  if I get a severe case of hypoglycaemia, I would like someone to give me glucose  and I have no desire to advertise to all and sundry that I have had RNY or any other medical procedure that is not life threatening...

It's clearly a personal decision ...

I'm excited to get a bracelet. It will have my name, gastric bypass, no blind ng tube, no NSAIDs. I found a really nice one but can't order it yet since I haven't been approved yet.
