Hard Time Getting Protein In

Protein shakes made me nauseous too...until I figured out that I was lactose intolerant. Try making them with water, soy milk, or almond milk and see if you feel better. You might want to make sure your protein powder is lactose free too.... many are not. It should say 99% lactose free somewhere on the label. If your powder contains whey concentrate... it has lactose in it. Whey Isolate is lactose free. I put my protein powder in my coffee...it tastes like a latte to me. I can still eat yogurt and cheese because there is very little lactose left after they are "processed".
I am not getting all my protein in either, but I have been trying to experiment and one thing I came up with was using the fruit flavored "nectar" brand and instead of mixing it with water mixing it with sugar free hawaiian punch, then pouring into popsicle molds. You can still kind of taste the protein, but the coldness and sweetness of the hawaiian punch overpowers it to an extent. The smell of protein makes me ill so I'm having a hard time as well.
