OT - went to appt with surgeon
I like the surgeon. He seemed very understanding about my PTSD, so that was good.
I have to have a biopsy done in the hospital, which is not so good. I was hoping they could do it in the office. On the other hand, I get to be sedated for it, which is good given my anxiety.
The person I hired to go with me showed up 25 minutes late. I was very upset about that. I'm still upset about that. I had explained how anxious I was about it, and then I was sitting there thinking she wasn't even showing up. And it's depressing, too, that something potentially serious can be wrong with me and I can't even pay someone to care enough to show up and be there for me. What a waste of money that I can't really afford.
The biopsy is either going to be on May 1 or May 15. A friend of mine who assured me she'd be there for it now says she will be there if it's the 15th but that she can't be there on the 1st because she can't get off work then. She said she can get off on the 8th, can I make it then instead. Well, no, the surgeon is out of town that week. I cannot ask the surgeon to change his vacation schedule to accommodate her work schedule. I don't know what I"m going to do if it's on the 1st. I can't drive myself home from it. Maybe I can take a cab. I don't know. I don't want to try hiring someone again because what if she doesn't show up on time again?

Yikes. First, good for you for getting up the nerves to go and get yourself checked out! As far as the hired person goes - where did you get the company name from? I had to hire someone to take me back from my upper GI (no cabs allowed post-anesthesia per my hospital), and went with the company the hospital recommended the most. That's absurd/ridiculous that someone hired got there so late. When you're feeling a bit better, consider trying to complain to their agency about them; you might even be able to get some of your $ back. You deserve to be treated much better than that.

Kelly, I'm glad that the encounter with the surgeon was positive.
Might you be able to contact the office and just let them know that you were able to find someone to be with you on the 15th? That way, if they have a choice between the two dates, they'll know which one is best for you. Otherwise, they will likely choose the earliest date.
Keeping you in prayer.
Best Wishes!!!
Kind of the middle. The biopsy is going to be in Ashland. I live about 45 minutes from there. Well, I will live about 45 minutes from there. I am moving next week.

I think I"m going to see if I can just take a cab home. It will be a kind of expensive cab ride but I can probably come up with the money.

I'm sorry about all of this Kelly, it sounds really tough. I have some pretty severe anxiety issues as well, and fortunately have a good psychiatrist now who keeps me in decent shape. Otherwise, there would be days that I'd seriously not be able to go to work or leave the house at all, and I just can't afford that.
It was very unprofessional of that person to be so late, especially for an important appointment. I would consider speaking to his/her employer about that if you haven't done so already. Your anxiety needed to be considered seriously, and making you wait made the experience that much more agonizing. That isn't right and you don't need to stand for it.
I really hope that you find someone you trust who is able to accompany you and make this experience even a little bit easier. I know it is difficult, but I kind of hope you can just get it over with on May 1st. The less time there is to worry about it, the better for you. (I don't presume to know the extent of your anxiety, so please do not think that I am telling you to just push through it. I hope this hasn't come off like that.)
But, I do KNOW that you are a good researcher. You have worked long and hard to understand what your body needs in terms of vitamins and nutrition. You are an informed, intelligent patient. Transfer that skill to your search for someone to go with you, and maybe you'll find a more reliable or recommended individual to help you with transportation.
Best of luck with the biopsy. I hope that it turns out to be completely harmless and that your mind can be at ease. Take care!

Glad you were able to see the surgeon and that you have good vibes about him. So sorry about the person you hired - how rude and unprofessional.
I really do wish I lived close to you and could help you out. I am so spoiled to live where I do - I am close by to Duke, UNC Hospitals and Wake Med - all good hospitals and all very close. I really do take too many things for granted!
