So I'm looking for some advice...I have finally made the decision to go with weight loss surgery. Its taken me a couple of years to really decided that this is what I need to help me lose the weight. I went to my information session/new patient orientation on Wednesday night. Before going I had done my research and thought that VSG was the way I was going to go. But now after going to the information session I'm not sure. Looking for some advice or ideas of what made others choose RNY over other procedures. Please help!!!

I went with the band in 2003 because I was afraid of the malabsorptive component of RNY, as well as the permanency of it.  The band didn't work for me.  This time around, I wanted the gold standard treatment which had a handy side effect of being the most likely of any of the surgeries to cure diabetes, as well as having the most average weight loss.  I'm too close to post-op to be able to comment on the latter, but my diabetes has been in remission since my hospital stay for the surgery!  Also, back in the day, I didn't want to spend all day long taking all the vitamin supplements.  I was pleasantly surprised now to learn that there's a single one-a-day that will likely be all I need to take.

Can you please tell me what the single one a days is. I would love to just take one vitamin a day. Sounds great.

First off congratulations on taking steps to get control of your own life. It took me 10 years to have my surgery and I'm happy with my decision. I go for my four month post op next week. I initially went in to do the band procedure but was quickly convinced by the presentation and my doc that RNY was the way to go. I still took some time to look at the process and had my surgery 14 months and a loss of 55 lbs later. To make a long story short I ultimately decided to go with RNY after talking to several people who had it done, getting a better understanding about the procedure by doing research and then looking at what my needs were going to be long term. The results have been life changing for me and although I have not been on a scale since my one month check up I can say that I am several sizes down and able to move around as well as exercise every day with at least a couple miles of walking. I wish you the best as you move through your journey.
