Hospital Called today
Because they need CURRENT labwork and test results to know if you have a physical issue that might cause problems during surgery. I you have a serious vitamin deficiency or an unknown infection, they need to address it.
I can understand that they might want to be sure that there isnt something that would make you a bad candidate for surgery before they go through the approval process, but having tests 3 months or whatever before surgery doesn't make sense to me because a LOT of things could change in that 3 months. Just because you don't have an infection or irregular heartbeat in January doesn't mean you won't have one in March and you could end up with issues during surgery or post-op if there is something they didn't know about because they were using older tests.

Are you just taking about blood work or also other tests? I didn't pay any attention to what all they tested for as far as blood work (it was close to a dozen goals of look, though), but I also had urine tested, an abdominal ultrasound, an EKG, two respiratory tests, and a couple of other things. It was an all- day process once they included the tour of the gastric unit of the hospital and the review of what to expect immediately post-op and for the first couple of weeks.

I did my pre-op testing yesterday, it consisted of 2 tubes of blood and an EKG. When they did my pre op interview that is when they decided what test I would need before surgery. They required that my blood work be current within the last 30 days and since I had it done in Dec I had to have it re done.
